Typical teen..

well we went to visit our new counselor today.. wonderful person.. when I say "OUR COUNSELOR". It's family therapy. as well as individual counseling for our boys.. my husband and I laid down the issues we are having in the house hold and the children laid down the issues..amazing!!.. we all left there feeling wonderful.. except my oldest who is severe adhd..odd is in his typical teen years. so anything anybody has to say is just not good enough for him.. that will pass too!!.. patience and consistency is the rule of thumb!!.. believe me. good diet !. vegetables, fruit.. I am very fortunate that my children love vegtables and fruit.. my kids would rather have spinach than candy.. they still have not eaten their easter candy very much!.. We have raised them to love vegtables and fruit. and reading..and again CONSISTENCY AND CONSISTENCY!!..Its hard but its like they have ammunition and you have ammuntion, they want your ammunition to run out so they can have power..never give up!

Explanation

I wanted to write the definitions of my abbreviations I have on my blog.

ADHD= Attention deficiet hyperactivity disorder
ODD= Oppositional defiance disorder
PTSS= Post traumatic stress syndrome

now when a child is first diagnosed with adhd, odd usually follows hand in hand, nine times out of ten.. unfortunately my children was diagnosed with the third due to other circumstances that were beyond my husbands and my control..

here is an example of ODD.. I make my children do chores around the house and of course kids do not like chores, so I told my oldest to fold the the laundry.. well my child sabotaged the dryer thinking if the dryer broke, he would not have to fold up laundry..hmmm.. did I fool him.. my husband found the problem and fixed it.. we laugh about it now.. but it was not funny at the time.. oh believe me I have alot more stories to tell but that will come in time..

my name is carol miller, I am a step parent (raising mother) of 2 beautiful boys, now 12 and 13 years old.. I married my husband 10 years ago, he was a single father raising our children, our children struggle with different aspects of life..including.. adhd.. odd.. ptss.. now if you know anything about children with these diagnoses it can be a very stressful and challenging life style, but with consistency and strictness, challenges in everyday life with children diagnosed with these symptoms can be rewarding.. I have been tested, name calling... etc.. but my research that I have done and therapy with my children.. gives me an advantage.. I now know that I consider myself MOM!!!... and my children consider me MOM!!
